Meet the Mets
It all comes down to a three-game series in Miami. What could go wrong, right? Well, if you’ve been watching the 2025 Mets, you know that anything and everything can go wrong. Thus, with the team desperately needing a win to maintain their playoff position, they instead put up another pitiful performance in a season full of pitiful performances. The bats scored two in the first inning—the first on a solo homer by Francisco Lindor—but those would prove to be the only runs they’d get all night. Meanwhile,
Brandon Sproat started well but then fell apart in the fifth inning, giving up three runs before being replaced by Gregory Soto. Alas, the lefty allowed an inherited runner to score before giving up a two-run homer to Connor Norby to make it 6-2, and that proved to be the final. So once again, the Mets are out of playoff position, and the Reds now hold a magic number of two against them. Competitive sports were a mistake.
