Bayern Munich returned to club football and the Bundesliga with a home fixture against SC Freiburg. Freiburg were a known difficult opponent and a solid challenge ahead of the all-important game against Arsenal
FC away in the Champions League.
Karl in particular, returns to club football following a phenomenal international break, debuting at the Germany U21 team. His incredible game against Malta was the talk of the town. In all fairness, the player himself has been the talk of the town following his performances since pre-season.
The youngster has drawn several comparisons from Franck Ribéry, to Arjen Robben, and now to Lionel Messi. The Argentine great who now competes with Bayern Munich’s greatest Thomas Müller in the MLS is still in the conversation for his continued strong performances despite his age.
Karl reacting to the comparisons following the win against Freiburg, denied them politely, per @iMiaSanMia.
“Other people said that,” he said.
“I can’t compare myself to Messi. Messi is right at the top and there’s a long way to go to reach that,” the youngster raved. “He’s my idol.”
It is clear Karl is being influenced by the right people and soon enough, we might see him going one for one against them and their records.
