It’s getting to be that time of year again. The college basketball season is fast approaching, with Indiana men’s basketball having already taken the court for an exhibition matchup against Butler on Sunday. Darian DeVries’ new-look roster was dominant on the glass in practice as it seemed it’d be on paper.
Speaking of on paper, the first KenPom ratings of the season went live earlier this week. There’s only so much that can be taken from preseason ratings like this, especially with a roster as retooled
as Indiana, but it’s relevant enough to discuss.
The Hoosiers debuted at No. 47 overall in the efficiency database with the No. 42 offense and the No. 49 defense, pretty pedestrian for the offseason haul the program brought in. DeVries’ first team ended the season at No. 45 overall with the No. 39 offense and No. 66 defense.
We’ll know considerably more when the games start counting, but there’s plenty of room to rise.
