The SEC released the initial availability reports on Wednesday night for all SEC games on Saturday, and the Tennessee-Oklahoma report was notable for who wasn’t on there for the Vols.
Starting cornerback
Colton Hood was absent from the report, meaning he should be good to go for Saturday night.
Hood went down with an injury in the second half of Tennessee’s 56-34 win over Kentucky last weekend, and his availability was very much cloudy after Josh Heupel’s press conference on Monday, when he told everyone to stay tuned to the injury report. Heupel is usually pretty fair saying when a player is good to go (excluding his comments in 2023 about Cooper Mays), so it didn’t seem like a great sign that he didn’t give a thumbs up on Hood.
But Tennessee will apparently have their starting cornerback on Saturday night, which is obviously a huge boost for the defense. Jermod McCoy, however, will not make his 2025 season debut despite upping his practice work this week. Tennessee has a bye after Saturday, so the next chance for him to hit the field will be on November 15 against New Mexico on homecoming.
The only player in the questionable department is LB Arion Carter, who missed the Vols’ win over Kentucky with a turf toe issue. We’ll see if he can up his chances to probable by Friday’s report.
Tennessee and Oklahoma will get underway on Saturday night at Neyland Stadium, with the game being broadcast on ABC at 7:30 pm ET
