As position coach Kyle Flood and the Texas Longhorns have missed on some major offensive line targets during the winter transfer window, assessing the importance of those misfires depends on an understanding
of where those players ranked on the offensive line board for head coach Steve Sarkisian and general manager Brandon Harris.
If a report from Orangebloods is accurate, the staff has been waiting for star Colorado left tackle Jordan Seaton to enter the NCAA transfer portal, which finally happened on Tuesday, immediately making the Washington, D.C. product one of the most coveted players in the country with 247Sports ranking him fourth overall and the No. 1 offensive tackle.
Out of IMG Academy in Brandenton, Fla. in the 2024 recruiting class, Seaton wasn’t offered by Texas as the Longhorns went all in on California standout Brandon Baker, the current starter at right tackle and the player who would ostensibly slide inside to guard to provide more athleticism at the position, a plan that is becoming increasingly clear as Flood continues to target tackles in the portal.
Securing a visit from Seaton is the first step for the Longhorns to make an impact in his recruitment, which will require a significant investment, including whatever money was freed up by the most expensive 2025 offensive line signee, rising sophomore tackle Nick Brooks, also entering the portal on Tuesday.
The price tag for Seaton could be between $3 million and $4 million for the one season until the rising junior declares for the 2027 NFL Draft, with Oregon expected to provide serious competition for Texas.
How much do social media follows matter?
Now it’s a matter of waiting to see where Seaton decides to visit with significant pressure on Flood and the Longhorns to make championship-level upgrades to Manning’s offensive line after landing impact players at running back and wide receiver.
