Lisandro Martinez could soon make his return to the pitch following a nine-month rehabilitation for a torn acl suffered last season, according to Ruben Amorim who spoke ahead of this Monday’s match against
Everton. Benjamin Sesko’s recent knee injury is apparently quickly on the mend as well.
Martinez returned to full training this week, and Amorim provided an optimistic assessment.
“I feel Licha is becoming close to be ready to play,” Amorim said. “Of course, we need to be careful, he is going to struggle in the first minutes but he is clearly in a better position if you compare two weeks ago.”
In addition to the prospect that the backline will be another man stronger in the coming weeks/months, the forward line may not be without Benjamin Sesko for as long as pessimists (me) assumed he might be out following his early exit with a knee injury at Tottenham.
Based on that assessment, Sesko could be back as soon as Monday, Dec. 8 which is the day that AFCON players are expected to begin travel to their national team camps.
In the meantime, United host Everton on Monday, Nov. 24, before heading south to Crystal Palace on Sunday, Nov. 30.
