Bayern Munich has — allegedly — made its first signing of the summer: versatile Moroccan Ismael Saibari from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven. Morocco has earned solid results at the ongoing 2026 World Cup, drawing 1-1 with Brazil and then beating Scotland 1-0 thanks to a Saibari goal. Mohamed Ouahbi, the head coach of the Moroccan national football team, spoke about the impending transfer.
“We don’t decide the timing, of course, but it is not official yet,” Ouahbi said (AFP as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia).
“We are really proud when Moroccan players are able to play for big clubs like Bayern Munich. The player is very calm about it all, and I don’t think Bayern have been very aggressive in their communication. He is concentrating on playing for Morocco.
“I am lucky enough to know Vincent Kompany very well. I think he understands that the priority right now is Morocco, but we will be very proud when it is done, and we want the best Moroccan players at the best clubs.”
As Ouahbi implied above, the deal is basically done but the official announcement will come after the World Cup so Saibari can focus on his duties with his national team.
