While Germany’s senior team flamed out massively and became a laughingstock at the 2026 World Cup, the U-19s did much better because they reached the final of the U-19 Euros after a comeback win over Ukraine (as reported by Sport1). Two goals in quick succession from either side saw both teams level at the break and it stayed that way until the 90th minute when Francis Onyeka scored to win the game for Germany.
The young Germans will face Spain in the final, who beat them 4-0 in the group stage last
week. Germany’s performances at the tournament meant that they qualified for the U-20 World Cup next year, co-hosted by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Germany’s last visit to the U-20 World Cup was back in 2017, while the last time they were champions was 1981.
The U19 EUROs final will kick off at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham at 7:00 PM local time.
