and all through the house…
Everyone was stirring, in anticipation of the long awaited return of the longest running rivalry in College Football history! Ok so the rhyme broke apart there a bit.
The only news we’re talking about right now is the renewal of the Border War.
It’s all over social media, it’s on podcasts, it’s on the radio. Predictions are flying left and right.
We’re even going with the Block M on the helmets:
These are what you wear when you not only want to win
but beat the spread by a LOT. Fire.

Most of everything was about the Border War yesterday, we’re going to recap everything, but first ICYMI: Mizzou Hoops is hosting 5-star forward Toni Bryant this weekend, Matt Harris has a visit primer to talk about who Bryant is and what type of player he is on the floor. I suggest checking it out. Now onto the links:
- True introduced a new piece we’ll be featuring weekly, it’s about TRENDS:
It’s a bad week to be a Jayhawk… It’s safe to say that if you are a kansas fan and are on or around Mizzou’s campus this weekend, you might not have the best experience. To any Jayhawk coming to Columbia for the game: I wish you the best of luck.
Aw, that was nice to wish them luck. Pretty sure we wish them to trip into a puddle most of the time.
Since the Tigers joined the SEC in 2012, Mizzou has won a total of 97 wins. On the other hand, kansas stands last among schools in the power four conferences with 40 wins. Plus, Mizzou has more 10 win seasons since joining the conference than kansas has in their entire program history.
LOL stupid kansas.
- Sammy talked to Henry Greenstein of the Lawrence Journal-World for a Q&A on the game:
But as much as Jayhawk fans despise their counterparts to the east, I think they value the historical cachet of this rivalry, and certainly love to indulge in a bit of nostalgia, harkening back to some of the most memorable matchups on the hardwood and the gridiron. The schools’ histories are certainly inextricably linked, and renewing the Border War provides an opportunity to promote some of that history to a broader public that might not be as familiar with either program.
I think both fan bases have generally mixed feelings about the renewal. I’m happy they’re playing. I agree in large part it’s good for the sport. I don’t know that I can say I missed it though. I missed the basketball rivalry, but as I say in a column coming soon here, I was never into the football rivalry the same way.
- Laird Veatch held a press conference to go over some updates to the game day protocols, and Rory was there:
Beginning Saturday and for the rest of the season, all fans must enter the stadium on the side where their seats are located. And it’s important that folks know that ticket scanners actually will not allow them to enter on the incorrect side. So if they wait in line and they come up and they’re on the incorrect side, we are going to have to ask them to go around.
Sounds like last week was a bit of a disaster.
- From one Border War to another… Women’s Soccer lost 2-0 to Illinois in the Braggin’ Rights matchup:
The first 10 minutes were a feel-out period with no team gaining a clear advantage. That was until the 12th minute, when Illinois made an impressive assault that included two shots, one on goal, until senior defender Jessica Larson made the clear. Larson is one of three Tiger defenders to play every minute of every match so far this season.
