Jonas Urbig is not treating Bayern Munich’s upcoming friendly against Aston Villa as “just another preseason game.”
Speaking ahead of the match, the goalkeeper emphasized the mentality expected at Bayern Munich regardless of the occasion.
“When you wear the FC Bayern jersey, you always have to give 100 percent. I do not care whether it is a friendly or a competitive match, a Bundesliga or Champions League game: you approach every encounter in exactly the same way, with the same mindset, the same conviction
and the same sense of responsibility. That is why the clash with Aston Villa will be a proper test, and a game in which we want to continue to improve,” Urbig told FCBayern.com.
It is the mentality that has defined Bayern Munich for decades. Every match matters, whether it is lifting trophies in May or building toward the season in August. With Vincent Kompany continuing to implement his ideas and more first-team players returning to the squad, Aston Villa represents another valuable opportunity to sharpen performances before competitive action begins.
For Urbig and the rest of the squad, the objective is simple: keep building, keep improving, and maintain the standards at Bayern Munich.
