It was a huge week for the Desert Dogs who went 4-0 with four blowout wins – a 7-0 win on Tuesday, 15-9 win on Wednesday, 11-0 win on Thursday, and a 9-3 win on Friday before the Fall Stars game that saw
the NL fall 4-5. Lets take a look at the performances by the Braves prospect performances.
Nacho Alvarez Jr.
4-for-11, 3B, 3 BB, 2 R
19G – .304/.448/.478
The good work for Nacho continued as he got on base seven times in four games including three walks, and a triple. Across 19 games in the AFL Nacho Alvarez Jr. has recorded a .926 OPS in what has been quite the hitter friendly league. While 2025 was short for him due to injury, Nacho has done a great job getting on base highlighted by his 18% walk rate, and his declining whiff rate (15%). While power isn’t really in his game, given his 25% hard hit rate, he’s finding gaps and in general making contact on pitches he’s supposed to.
Nacho also was chosen to represent the NL in the Fall Stars game where he went 0-for-2.
Patrick Clohisy
6-for-14, 3 R, BB, 4 SB, 4 RBI
20G – .276/.389/.355
The great work for Patrick Clohisy this year continued last week as the speedster managed to record six hits and earned another walk to get on base seven times last week. While the power simply has not been there this year, he recorded another 4 stolen bases giving him 21 in 20 games, and an even 100 on the year at a great 84% success rate.
Jim Jarvis
4-for-10, 5 BB, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2B, 3 R
15G – .255/.387/.412
Jim Jarvis, acquired via the Rafael Montero trade, appeared in three games last week and went 4-for-10 with another FIVE walks. His big day came on Tuesday when he went 3-for-3 with three walks and two runs scored in the Desert Dogs 15-9 win. His 17% walk rate trails Nacho Alvarez for tops amongst Braves position players, and 31st amongst all position players in the Arizona Fall League.
LJ McDonough
1G – 2IP 0H 0R 0BB 3K
9G – 5.23 ERA, 8.7 K/9, 3.5 BB/9
LJ appeared in one game last week, coming last Tuesday where he was dominant – striking out three in two scoreless innings. He’s now appeared in 9 games for the Desert Dogs and has been OK, with a 5.23 ERA across 10.1 IP. Again, it’s important to note that the AFL has been EXTREMELY hitter friendly.
Trent Buchanan
1G – 1IP 2H 2ER 0BB 0K, 1 HR
8G – 11.37 ERA, 8.5 K/9, 9.9 BB/9
The walks were not an issue for Trent this week, as he appeared in one game and did not walk a batter, however he did give up a home run and saw his ERA move up to 11.37 on the AFL season. Trent has struggled since being named to the league, despite the strong velocity, but it’s also important to note that at 49IP in 2025, he’s at a career high.
Jhancarlos Lara
2G – 1.1IP 0H 0R 0BB 3K
10G – 1.86 ERA, 13 K/9, 9.3 BB/9
Jhancarlos continued his strong form – appearing in a pair of games with his first outing coming last Wednesday where he struck out the side. His second appearance came on Friday’s 9-3 win but he faced just one batter. On the AFL season, Lara has continued his strong trends from the season, where nobody can really hit him (3.7 BB/9), he’s striking out a ton (13 K/9), but has struggled with walks (9.3 BB/9). The walk issues were not evident last week and he eased through his two appearances.
Jacob Kroeger
1G – 1.2IP 2H 0R 0BB 3K
5G – 6.14 ERA, 11 K/9, 7.4 BB/9
It was a great week for Jacob who struck out three and gave up 0 runs in his single appearance where he pitched 1.2 innings. He has now appeared in six games in the AFL and has a great 11 K/9 rate, but has struggled with runs in previous weeks – seen by his 6.14 ERA, and 7.4 BB/9 rate. In his first full season in professional baseball, Jacob has now pitched 98.1 innings so it’s also fair to assume, much like Trent, he has hit a bit of a wall despite the great work from last week.
Luke Sinnard
1G – 4IP 5H 3ER 3BB 4K, 1 HR
5G – 4.60 ERA, 11.5 K/9, 3.4 BB/9
The home run ball has caught up with Luke a bit, as he allowed a pair last week, and another one this week, in his one outing of work. Again, it’s important to note how offensive friendly the AFL has been so to still go four innings is a good thing, while allowing just three earned runs. On the AFL season his strikeout rate since at 11.5 K/9 while his walk rate hovers around his season average.
