It’s almost basketball time in the Bluegrass. Monday marks the start of a jam-packed week for the Kentucky Wildcats as Media Day kicks off the preseason.
Reporters will get the chance to talk with players
and head coach Mark Pope, offering fans a deeper look into this new-look roster ahead of the 2025 season.
On Tuesday, the team will take the floor for Pro Day, giving NBA scouts and fans a sneak peek at practices and scrimmages. Then, the action shifts to Big Blue Madness on Saturday night with the annual fan-favorite event where Big Blue Nation can see the Wildcats live in Rupp Arena for the first time.
The excitement won’t stop there. The Blue-White Scrimmage is set for Friday, Oct. 17, followed by exhibition games against Purdue on Oct. 24 and Georgetown on Oct. 30. Kentucky officially tips off its season on Tuesday, Nov. 4, against Nicholls.
Fans have already gotten to know this team well over the offseason, as Pope opened the doors to media coverage and player interviews throughout the summer. The social media team for Kentucky basketball has been generating buzz with practice highlights, behind-the-scenes content, and features on the UK Sports Network that have helped build anticipation for the season.
For a fan base eager to see what Mark Pope can do in his second season, this week is just the beginning of the eventual goal of winning No. 9 and bringing it back home to Lexington for the first time since the 2011-2012 season.
