The New York Giants will have to rely a lot on starting running back Cam Skattebo going into the team’s Week 3 contest against the Tennessee Titans.
With Jaxson Dart out and Jameis Winston taking over, Skattebo will be viewed as a big contributor for the team for the rest of the season. Titans head coach Robert Saleh revealed in a press conference that the San Francisco 49ers nearly selected him in the 2025 NFL Draft before the Giants snatched him up in the fourth round.
“He’s cool, man, and I like
him,” Saleh said. “He’s like the old-school 2010 Madden hit stick: lower your shoulder, run people over, and plays his a** off, with lots of energy. I know that, coming into the draft, we were actually about to draft him in San Francisco. Kyle [Shanahan] loved him, and he ended up getting taken right before we were picking. … He’s a spark plug.”
The Giants selected Skattebo with the 105th overall pick. The 49ers picked at No. 113, eight spots later.
So far this season, Skattebo has run the ball 30 times for 117 yards and a touchdown. The second-year pro from Arizona State also has four catches for 19 yards, all of which were recorded in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Rams.
