Barcelona have confirmed that striker Robert Lewandowski
will miss Tuesday’s game against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey after suffering a fractured eye socket. The news is a real blow for Barcelona, particularly given Hansi Flick’s side head into the match already 4-0 down on aggregate.
However, it seems that Lewandowski may not be out for too long. Polish reporter Tomasz Wlodarczyk has offered an update and claims he could return at the weekend with a mask.
“Robert Lewandowski has a fractured
left eye socket. He will not play against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey, but he will be ready for the La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao (March 7). Lewandowski will play in the near future wearing a special mask,” he posted on X.
We’ll have to wait and see if the estimate proves accurate but Barcelona will certainly be keen to have Lewandowski available as quickly as possible as there are some big games on the horizon.
After Athletic Club on Saturday in La Liga, Barcelona head to Newcastle for the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
