Kentucky Basketball made a massive addition Saturday when Missouri Tigers transfer Mark Mitchell committed to the Wildcats.
The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Mitchell was originally a 5-star class of 2022 recruit who spent his first two seasons at Duke before playing at Missouri over the last two years. He was supposed to be out of eligibility, but thanks to a lawsuit in Kentucky, Mitchell is now getting a fifth and final season of college basketball.
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Mitchell is coming off
the best season of his career, averaging 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 33.7 minutes per game while shooting 55% from the field and 38.8% from 3-point range, earning Second Team All-SEC honors.
If he’s able to play this season, Mitchell could be a candidate for Preseason SEC Player of the Year and All-American honors. That’s how huge of a get this is for Mark Pope and Co., and Kentucky now has what looks like a top-10 team on paper that’s capable of making a Final Four run.
Now, let’s see how Twitter celebrated the Wildcats’ big addition!
