The 2025 NFL season has been a wild one for Cleveland Browns fans. From a quarterback competition between four or five players that very few believed in to Deshaun Watson potentially returning from injured
reserve and to the team next year, Browns fans have had a lot of noise around the most important position in all of football.
Now, Shedeur Sanders is the starter for the rest of the year after a big Week 14 performance
.Then there have been the rumors around HC Kevin Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry since early in the season. Many have taken Berry off the hot seat due to his 2025 NFL draft class, but Stefanski continues to draw the ire of fans and media alike. From how he handled Sanders to individual decisions, like going for two points last week, questions around Stefanski have only grown stronger.
Now, according to Albert Breer (thanks to SI for transcribing), comes the rumor that Stefanski may want out:
“If you’re Kevin, and you are making all of these decisions for football reasons, and you have made a lot of other decisions over the years for football reasons and they’re constantly second-guessed and everything turns into a circus, would you be sick of it?”
“With Paul DePodesta gone and no plan to replace him, is this a natural point for them to evaluate everything?” Breer asked. “Has this just become, ‘You know what, this hasn’t worked out for either one of us over the last couple of years, so maybe it’s just time.’”
Breer spoke more about those thoughts on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland as well:
Jason LaCanfora, formerly of CBS Sports, added to the smoke around Stefanski and believes owner Jimmy Haslam would go as far as trade for a new head coach as well as potentially trading his current one:
Both LaCanfora and Breer noted the connection to the New York Giants
With last week’s report that Stefanski has a bright future in the NFL as a head coach, it seems like multiple entities are working hard to stir the pot around the Cleveland head coach. Whether that is Stefanski’s people, media-created, or team(s) around the NFL who have an agenda is uncertain.
What do you think of all this smoke around Stefanski? Do you think he’s more likely to stay in Cleveland or be added to the pile of former Browns head coaches?
