Prior to last night’s (June 3) AEW Dynamite, The Young Bucks hopped on a livestream on their Being the Elite YouTube channel. Along with talking about what’s going on in their lives, the brothers also shared an update on their friend Adam Cole, who is recovering from a career-threatening injury.
Cole, of course, was a major star on wrestling’s independent circuit prior to signing with WWE in 2017. Though he was one of the most popular wrestlers on NXT’s roster, he jumped to AEW in 2021, where he continued
to find success. However, his run at the top of the men’s division in AEW came to a screeching halt last summer when he was forced to vacate the TNT Championship because he was not medically cleared due to undisclosed health issues.
Last November, Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez reported there was “a strong feeling” in AEW that Cole “may not ever wrestle again.” Though there hasn’t been an official announcement on what exact health issues are keeping Cole from the ring, he has a long history of concussions.
When Cole vacated his AEW title, he delivered an emotional address to the live crowd at All In: Texas, saying he would be “gone for a while.” Since that time, Cole has stayed mostly out of the spotlight.
During their livestream, Nick and Matt Jackson were asked in the chat about any updates on Cole. According to the brothers, their friend’s health has improved.
“We were just talking to him the other day. It’s step by step for him. He’s just trying to take it day by day, but he’s having improvements, which is good” Nick said.
Matt added: “So, keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He’s the best person I think I’ve ever met in the wrestling business without exaggeration. Number one, he’s the best.“
