Barcelona look set to pull off another surprise transfer as they have reportedly agreed a deal with Arsenal for striker Gabriel Jesus.
The Catalans have been after a striker all summer long and had been focused on Julian Alvarez. However, Atletico Madrid have made it clear they will not sell the striker to Barcelona and it looks the Catalans have gone elsewhere.
Alvarez was back in training with Atletico on Sunday, with reports claiming he’s now accepted his fate and knows he’ll have to stay with Diego
Simeone’s side for the time being.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Barcelona have moved to secure a deal for Jesus for €10m plus add-ons. Jesus is now due to have a medical with the Catalan giants.
Jesus has been linked with an exit after falling behind Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres in the pecking order in north London.
Mikel Arteta was asked about the future of Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli this week and hinted both players could leave.
“It’s inevitable, at some point you need to have certain discussions and say certain things that sometimes are tough,” he told reporters.
“I think everybody knows and recognises how much we love Gabi (Martinelli). Whatever the outcome is, it will be because everybody agrees to that.”
After securing surprise transfers for Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi earlier in the window, Barcelona look now look set to make waves again by landing Jesus.
