Good Monday morning, TSFers and happy (?) Labor Day. Are you supposed to wish people a “happy” Labor Day? I figure many people in the U.S. will have a good day because it’s a day off and a long weekend. It also happens to be transfer deadline day. The window shuts at 2 pm ET this year, which is 7 pm in the U.K.
There has already been a flurry of activity:
- Liverpool are signing Alexander Isak for a record fee of £125M
- The Reds are making progress on Marc Guehi but it’s not clear whether it will come together in time
- Manchester United are signing GK Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for £18M, which means they will not buy Emi Martinez, despite the links from yesterday
- Newcastle are buying Yoanne Wissa from Brentford for £55M
- Manchester City are working on selling Ederson to Fenerbahce for £12M and buying Gianliugi Donnarumma from PSG
- Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich looks to be back on after it was reported the move had collapsed yesterday
Arsenal are working on their outgoings, which I’ll mention here and write up in due course. Reiss Nelson appears to be heading to Brentford on loan.
Sambi Lokonga was sold to Hamburger SV (Hamburg) and Fabio Vieira is heading to the German side on loan with an option to buy for £17M. Oleksandr Zinchenko is currently expected to remain at Arsenal.
In very funny news, Erik ten Hag has been sacked by Bayer Leverkusen just three matches into the season.
