Rhode Island defeated Richmond 73-61 Tuesday night, which led to the Rams moving up one spot to No. 4 in the Women’s Other top 25 this week and dropped the Spiders from three to No. 5.
URI has won six straight
games and sits 12-2 on the season. Through three games in Atlantic-10 play, the Rams have wins over two teams ranked in the top 10 of this week’s poll: Richmond (No. 5) and Saint Joseph’s (No. 8).
Tammi Reiss’ club is 49th in the NET and is 3-1 in the first two quadrants. It’s a perfect 8-0 in Quad-4 games. The Rams are also 53rd in BartTorvik.
The A-10 holds five of the top 10 spots in this week’s ranking: Rhode Island (No. 4), Richmond (No. 5), Davidson (No. 6), Saint Joseph’s (No. 8) and George Mason (No. 10).
The Spiders, who have ranked in the top five all season, are 12-4. The Wildcats sit 11-5 on the year. The Hawks own an 11-3 record and have won five straight. The Patriots are 8-6 but have impressive wins over James Madison and Georgetown. They lost to top-ranked Princeton by just two points in overtime.
SJU and Mason are two of the three teams to elevate into the top 10. North Dakota St. was the other in this group as the Bison moved from No. 14 to seventh. NDSU is 12-5 and has strong computer numbers. It is 50th in the NET and 62nd in Torvik.
Four teams found their way into the poll after not being ranked last week: Ball St. (No. 17), Oregon St. (No. 18), Quinnipiac (No. 22) and Green Bay (No. 24).
The Cardinals sit at 11-4. The Beavers are 11-5 and have won five straight games. The Bobcats have also won five in a row to improve to 10-4. The Phoenix hold a mark of 11-5.
They replaced Massachusetts, South Florida, Belmont and Murray St.
