With the NFL Draft in its final day, many players with Mountain West ties of some sort are hearing their names called.
North Dakota State wide receiver Bryce Lance, younger brother of former Bison and NFL QB Trey Lance, was taken in the fourth round (136th pick overall), going to the New Orleans Saints.
Lance was a key part of the Bison
offense during his tenure, starting in 2024 and 2025. He had back-to-back 1000-yard receiving seasons, totaling 2157 overall, and averaged 17 yards per catch. Bryce also found the end zone often, scoring 27 touchdowns over two seasons, including an eye-popping 18 in 2024.
Standing at 6’3” and weighing about 204 pounds, Lance has an NFL WR body and despite playing at the FCS level, he should be able to translate well to the NFL game due to his size and speed. At the NFL Combine, he posted a 4.34 forty-time with a 41.5” vertical.
Following the Saints trade of Rashid Shaheed, Lance is in a great position to come in and compete for a starting role immediately. This seems like a good fit for both sides.
