Whatever else happens this offseason, the Orioles are heading towards spring training with a starting rotation that looks quite different from what they had last year. Kyle Bradish is back from Tommy John surgery. Trevor Rogers emerged from mediocrity to have an unbelievably great 60% of a season. Shane Baz was acquired at the expense of a lot of recently-drafted prospect capital. There won’t even be the idea of Grayson Rodriguez maybe pitching this season, since he got traded to the Angels for Taylor Ward.
It’s good that the Orioles have made some changes since the starting rotation was not very good last year. Yet even with all that’s turned over, many Orioles fans are still eyeing the remaining free agent pitchers and possible high-end trade targets and wondering if the team should or will make another move.
This week’s question is simple: Are they going to do something else? I’m talking a significant move, like committing big money for either Ranger Suárez or Framber Valdez. It could be a trade for a high-end rental pitcher like Freddy Peralta of the Brewers, or possibly a more longer-term acquisition of an enigmatic guy like Washington’s MacKenzie Gore.
Spring training is just a bit more than a month away. Mike Elias has time to strike another deal or lay out some more of David Rubenstein’s cash, but does he really want to do that? If he does, we’ll probably be in for another big surprise move as the early weeks of 2026 go along. Results of the survey will be shared on Friday. Feel free to drop your thoughts on the question in the comments below in the meantime.
