What is the story about?
The NBA has experienced a raft of injuries this year. On the heels of Minnesota Timberwolves perpetual MVP candidate Anthony Edwards going down with a knee injury, now another player on the fringes of that discussion has suffered a serious blow. Shams Charania of ESPN is reporting that Cade Cunningham, lead guard of the Detroit Pistons, is expected to miss an “extended period of time” due to a collapsed lung.
The fifth-year guard, and current NBA All-Star, is averaging 24.5 points and 9.9 assists
in 34.4 minutes per game for the Pistons this season. He has carried Detroit to a 49-19 record, good for first place in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
The Pistons have 14 games remaining on their 2025-26 regular-season schedule, which ends April 12th.
