‘Tis the season for NBA Trade Rumors to fly across the basketball landscapes like Minnesota blizzards in January. You can’t swing a cat without hitting someone talking about the Portland Trail Blazers making a move for Giannis Antetokounmpo or Jaylen Brown nowadays. We’ve been over that well-worn territory a few times and will probably continue doing so until both stars are traded or taken off the market.
But on the Ryen Russillo podcast this week, NBA experts Kevin O’Connor and Sam Vecenie engaged
in a series of “what if” trades, straying further off of the board than normal. One of the more intriguing ones involved Portland Trail Blazers forward Toumani Camara. The duo proposed the following trade ideas for the Blazers and the Oklahoma City Thunder:
- Toumani Camara and a protected future first-round pick for picks 12 and 17 in the 2026 NBA Draft. Or…
- Toumani Camara and a protected future first-round pick for Luguentz Dort and the 12th pick in the 2026 NBA Draft
For context, Camara averaged 13.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.1 steals in 33.3 minutes per game, starting all 82 games for the Blazers this season. He shot 44.0% from the floor and 37.0% from the three-point arc. He’s signed through the 2030 season at an average of around $20 million per year.
Dort averaged 8.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.9 steals in 26.8 minutes per game over 69 appearances for the Thunder this year. He shot 38.5% from the field, 34.4% from the arc. His contract runs one more year at $18 million.
Dort made the All-NBA Defensive first team in 2024-25. Camara earned second-team honors in the same season.
So what say you, Blazers fans? If O’Connor’s and Vecenie’s scenarios were to become reality, would you be interested in either or both? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
