With the Phoenix Suns heading into a new chapter after two seasons of shortcomings, the franchise cornerstone Devin Booker is stepping into a new chapter of his own. Literally. After two years and countless colorways and styles of the Nike Book 1, Suns’ franchise star Devin Booker and Nike have finally decided to turn the page and start writing the next chapter of his story with the swoosh.
The Nike Book 1, I believe, effectively represented how Booker is perceived by the public, as both underrated
and overhated. The Book 1 sneaker has a unique identity that sets it apart from other Nike models in the basketball world.
When Devin helped design his shoe with Nike, he really meant what he said by making this a “future classic.” Book 1 has such an old-school feel, like the Air Jordan 1, but with the tech of a modern shoe. Book 1, in many ways, is like Devin’s car collection; it has the old-school shell of a ’64 Impala, but under the hood, it has all the modern parts you can think of.
As an avid Book 1 supporter, I truly feel this shoe didn’t get the love it deserved, and later down the line, Devin Booker will have one of the most underrated signature lines with Nike. As sad as I am that Book 1 is coming to a close, I am super eager and excited to see what the next chapter looks like for Booker’s signature shoe line.
Early Tuesday, Nike dropped a teaser trailer hinting that the next chapter of Booker’s story with Nike was coming soon.
After this video was released, I myself got really curious if Devin Booker was going to kick off the next chapter in the land of Nike. Just a couple of hours before the tipoff between the Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers on NBC, I was told that Booker was going to be bringing out a new Book 1 colorway for warmups and officially bringing out the Nike Book 2 to the public eye.
And then, in typical Devin Booker marketing genius, the reveal began to make itself known.
Booker posted a video on his Instagram story of him torching the Nike Book 1 and essentially hinting that the end of Chapter One, after two successful years, was coming to a close.
This edition of the Nike Book 1 will be released to the public in spring 2026. I would expect this to be the final colorway of the Nike Book 1 to be released.
With Chapter One officially coming to a close, let’s take a look at the long-awaited Nike Book Chapter 2. Booker brought out two colorways of the Book 2 in last night’s matchup versus Portland.
Both colorways that Booker debuted in Portland will be released on January 2nd of next year. This model of Booker’s signature line features a sleeker, modern feel. In many ways, Book 2 is a complete 180 from the previous model of Booker’s signature line. When Devin started the design process on Book 2, he mentioned in an interview that he wanted it to be “lightweight” and “closer to the ground.”
Looking at the Nike Book 2 in detail, there is a lot that needs to be appreciated and brought to light.
The outsole of the Nike Book 2 features a similar feel to the popular Nike Air Force One model. When looking at the details of the outsole, you can see that the outsole has a sun-like design representing Arizona and the Phoenix Suns.

The Book 2 features a Cushlon 3.0 midsole, a fairfoot Air Zoom unit, and a foam sock liner. All of these things help Booker achieve that controlled, low-to-the-ground feeling he wants. These debut colorways, “Phoenix” and “Rising,” are a tribute to Arizona and Devin’s time spent here in the desert.
Devin, alongside his Book 2 sneakers, will be releasing a clothing collection as well. This collection features pieces that complement Devin’s taste in fashion alongside a sun-faded look.
This collection is also scheduled to be released in January of this coming year.
I personally am very eager and excited to see what this chapter has in store for Devin and Nike, and I feel this shoe and collection will be something consumers worldwide will really appreciate.
