What is the story about?
He beat Illinois this past season.
Now he’s joining the Illini.
Illinois received a commitment Monday from center Jake Renfro, who spent the last three seasons with Wisconsin.
According to the Badgers’ website, Renfro spent much of this year injured, but he did start all 12 games for Luke Fickell’s squad in 2024.
Renfro started his career with Cincinnati
and made the CFP under Fickell’s leadership.
He played high school football at Providence Catholic and grew up in Mokena. His father played football at Illinois.
Obviously, Illinois is losing a lot on the line this offseason via graduations and the portal, so Renfro bringing a lot of experience is a big pickup for Bret Bielema’s squad. And we know how much he loves getting guys from Madison.
