The Takedown on SI revealed its 2025 Pro Wrestling Awards this week, and All Elite Wrestling cleaned up with 10 total wins.
A short while ago on social media, President Tony Khan celebrated the outlet’s recognition of AEW as the top wrestling company, as well as the nine other categories won by AEW and its wrestlers.
The 10 categories won by AEW include promotion of the year, female wrestler of the year (Mercedes Mone), male wrestler of the year (Hangman Page), tag team of the year (FTR), best in the ring (Will Ospreay), best on the mic (Timeless Toni Storm), breakout wrestler of the year (Kyle Fletcher), show of the year (Double or Nothing), rivalry of the year (Hangman vs. Jon Moxley), and storyline of the year (Hangman’s redemption arc).
In comparison, WWE only came in first place in four categories: match of the year (Bianca Belair vs. IYO SKY vs. Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 41), heel turn of the year (Naomi), comeback performer of the year (Ilja Dragunov), and legacy award (John Cena).
SI is very confident about AEW’s 2026 outlook based on its strong showing as the best wrestling promotion of 2025:
“Tony Khan rebuilt a strong foundation for All Elite Wrestling in 2025 and the sky is the limit for what he’ll be able to accomplish in 2026 if he stays on this current trajectory.”
Do you agree about AEW mopping the floor with its pro wrestling competition in 2025? Will WWE be able to reclaim its title as promotion of the year in 2026? Let me know what you think about these results in the comments below, Cagesiders.
