What is the story about?
As in the tale of Achilles and the tortoise, the Harry Kane contract extension gets ever closer, but never seems to arrive. This new report by Az (via @iMiaSanMia) claims the signing is imminent, with Bayern Munich set to hang on to their star striker despite interest from FC Barcelona and the Premier League.
Per the report, two factors are important in the extension:
- Kane sees a good chance of winning the Champions League at Bayern Munich, having already come so close last season. With Vincent Kompany at the helm, the team has excellent prospects.
- FC Bayern have noted that the England captain is the bookies’ favorite to win the Ballon d’Or, demonstrating his international profile. He could become the fourth Bayern player to win the prestigious award after legends such as Gerd Müller, Franz Beckenbauer, and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
