Global Fight League (GFL) will stage its first mixed martial arts (MMA) event on Sat., Oct. 17, 2026 at Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas, Nevada. The venue can hold anywhere from 1,100 to 1,500 fans, depending on the layout, something you should keep in mind if they start touting a “sell out.”
Competition among fight promotions creates bigger and better opportunities for the fighters and that’s always a movement worth getting behind; however, it’s hard to take GFL seriously after it crashed and burned
in early 2025 following a series of public missteps and financial setbacks.
And that’s not even mentioning the lawsuits.
The GFL leadership team includes Tyron Woodley, Mike Goldberg, and Hector Lombard, among others.
GFL held a team draft (sort of like the old IFL league) back in Jan. 2025 (see the results here) and was scheduled to debut the following May — until this happened. For its second attempt in October, GFL has scaled down to four teams (from six) representing New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and London. It’s a little concerning that we don’t have any talent attached to the Oct. 17 lineup, but hopefully that information is released in the coming days.
Stay tuned.
