The NFL season is one week (and one Thursday Night Football game) old and already we have some interesting records to watch. In a positive, and not surprising, given all the lauding the rookie class has gotten from Week 1, the Cleveland Browns are on the good side.
As is their Week 2 opponent, the Baltimore Ravens.
Weekly, the NFL sends out a wide variety of notes to the media for the upcoming week. This week, Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr., along with Indianapolis Colts TE Tyler Warren, have a chance
to have the most receptions by rookie tight ends through their first two games after each hauled in seven in their debut.
The current record came last year when Las Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers caught 15 passes. Keith Jackson held the record since 1988 with 12 prior to Bowers. Fannin and/or Warren will need big follow-up games if they want to challenge Bowers’ record.
The Ravens rushing attack, including QB Lamar Jackson, has a chance to make some marks as well:
This Sunday against Cleveland (1 p.m. ET, CBS), Jackson can become the seventh quarterback in NFL history to record at least two touchdown passes and a passer rating of 90-or-higher in 10 consecutive games, including the postseason, joining Tom Brady (12 games from 2014-15 and 10 games in 2007), Drew Brees (10 games in 2011), Patrick Mahomes (11 games in 2018 and 10 games from 2021-22), Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (13 games in 2004), Philip Rivers (13 games from 2017-18) and Aaron Rodgers (14 games from 2010-11).
Baltimore RB Derrick Henry is moving his way up the list of players with the most games of two rushing touchdowns (currently tied for third and 10 behind leader LaDainian Tomlinson) and the list of players with 150 yards or more:
With 150 rushing yards on Sunday, Henry will tie Adrian Peterson (19 games) for the fourth-most such games in NFL history. Only Pro Football Hall of Famers Barry Sanders (25 games), Jim Brown (22) and Walter Payton (20) have more.
In the end, both teams step into the game with 0-1 records and would rather come out of the game with a victory than to accomplish one of these marks.
