The Los Angeles Rams will activate pass rusher Myles Garrett in time to return this Sunday against the Washington Commanders, according to multiple reports on Friday. The veteran defensive end has missed all but one game this season with a knee injury, an ailment that caused him to miss most of training camp and seven games this year. However, L.A.’s long awaited return for the player who they invested so much into over the offseason appears to be two days away.
The Rams desperately needed good injury
news this week and Garrett’s expected return against the Commanders is just what the doctor ordered.
What can be said about Myles Garrett that hasn’t been said 100 times this year already?
He is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year after recording a historic 23 sacks last season. The Rams just put Jaylen Watson on season-ending IR but they hope to have both Garrett and Trent McDuffie on the field on Sunday, a pairing we’ve only seen once this year. That was a 27-7 loss to the 49ers in Week 1, but L.A. had to travel across the world for that game.
McDuffie has been one of the top-five cover corners in the NFL this season and Garrett is no doubt one of the top-five edge rushers. The Rams’ defense has been good enough, but many expected it to be the best in the league after trading two first-round picks, Jared Verse, and more to acquire these two players.
The defense now gets a chance to show what they’ve really become this year.
