At the end of last week, WWE sent some of the team to Japan for quick two-show run in Tokyo. AJ Styles was there, just days after confirming his plan to hang up his boots at the end of next year. Styles,
the fellow wrestlers, and the crowd realized it was probably his last trip to the country as an active performer. They treated the occasion with respect, even while going through a range of emotions — especially the former NWA, TNA, WWE, and IWGP World champ.
We’d seen some fan-shot footage from WWE’s second night in Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan on Fri., Oct. 17, and plenty of social media posts about moments like The Phenomenal One’s quick ringside visit with Pro Wresting NOAH’s Naomichi Marufuji before his match with Kofi Kingston, CM Punk bringing AJ back out to close the show, and the note Styles gave his friend and sometime rival Shinsuke Nakamura to read to the fans in their own language
Now we’ve got it all in one of WWE’s always slickly-produced video packages, complete with backstage comments we hadn’t seen before. Check it out above, and get more about last Friday night (including transcription of what Styles and Nakamura said, and a bit more about AJ’s New Japan days) here.
