Indiana women’s basketball may have lost its sixth player and first season-long starter on Monday afternoon. Nevaeh Caffey, one of the Hoosiers’ starting guards, plans to enter the transfer portal, according to reporting from On3’s Talia Goodman.
The Hoosiers’ other five transfer portal entries have been members of their bench this past season or pinch starters in the case of Edessa Noyan. Caffey, a true freshman in 2025-26, is a different case. She started in all of the Hoosiers’ 32 games, averaging
8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 42.1% from the field and 41.7% on low volume from 3-point range.
Caffey figured to be a part of the Hoosiers’ future given her defensive abilities and heavy minutes load as a true freshman, which doesn’t happen often at Indiana. Instead, it looks as though her career will continue elsewhere with the Hoosiers likely having a hole to fill in the portal.
