Espanyol could make play for Zaragoza (Mundo Deportivo’s Sergio Escario)
It looks like Bayern Munich is getting very close to a move with Benfica for midfielder João Palhinha and there could also be a loan deal on the way for Bryan Zaragoza, too, per Mundo Deportivo:
Espanyol are currently showing the most concrete interest in Bryan Zaragoza and are the frontrunners to sign him. The Catalan club is trying to arrange a loan deal, with Bayern covering part of his wages, although the Germans prefer a permanent transfer. Sevilla are also back in the running for Zaragoza while
they complete the sale of Rubén Vargas [@sergio21escario, @mundodeportivo]
Ideally, Bayern Munich would probably like to sell Zaragoza outright, but that could be difficult given the limited success he has had in recent seasons. It is very clear that the attacker could use a fresh start, but there appear to be very few clubs willing to take the chance on the 24-year-old.
Nkunku could be headed back to Leipzig (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
Christopher Nkunku’s post-RB Leipzig career has not gone as planned, and he could be looking to rekindle that old flame:
🚨🇫🇷 Both Newcastle and RB Leipzig are in direct contact with AC Milan for Christopher Nkunku deal.
Initial approaches as nothing done/agreed yet but contacts continue for the French striker.
Nkunku will leave AC Milan this summer.
Later, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg checked into report that Die Roten Bullen might be leading the race:
🚨⏳ There’s a feeling that RB Leipzig are currently ahead in the race for Christopher Nkunku.
There are many enquiries for the 28 y/o versatile forward, including from the Premier League and Newcastle.
But Leipzig are already in concrete negotiations with AC Milan. RB really want to bring Nkunku back – and Nkunku is also open to a return. No agreements yet. @SkySportDE
One of us, one of us, one of us! (Erling Haaland)
Manchester City star Erling Haaland was out there like one of the guys…chopping some wood in his free time:
City could make play for Koné (ESPN)
Add Manchester City to the list of teams that could pursue AS Roma midfielder Manu Koné:
Manchester City have identified Roma midfielder Manu Koné as a potential target, according to The Daily Mail. The France international has emerged as an option as new manager Enzo Maresca looks to rebuild his midfield following the departures of Rodri and Tijjani Reijnders. Koné was previously a target for Manchester United and Arsenal, although their interest has cooled, which could allow City to swoop for the 25-year-old unopposed. Roma are understood to value the transfer of Koné — who is under contract at Stadio Olimpico until June 2029 — at around €50 million.
Koné was a workhorse in the midfield for France at the World Cup, and that seems to have put him on the radar of several clubs.
Eberl happy with transfer window (ranSport / SAT.1 via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern Munich board member for sport is happy with the job he has done so far in the transfer window.
“We have strengthened the squad with Nene (Brown), Isi (Saibari), and Bara (Sapoko) Ndiaye, who was already with us on loan last season. We’ve let players such as Leon Goretzka, Raphael Guerreiro and Nicolas Jackson leave, and we believe that with the squad we have now put together, we have made the team even more versatile, even deeper, and certainly younger,” said Eberl. “Saibari is a player who brings a lot of what we need in attack: power, intensity, pace, finishing ability and a strong physique. He can also use his body well, link up effectively with all of our attacking players, and he has very good footballing intelligence. So, naturally, we have very high expectations for him and are hoping for a lot from him.”
Marmoush to Spurs? (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
Former Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmoush could be headed to Tottenham Hotspur. While the player and Tottenham have reached a verbal agreement, Spurs would still need to work out a deal with City:
