On the latest episode of Nick Cannon’s We Playin’ Spades podcast, Mercedes Moné responded to criticism that she overcharges fans for her texting service.
For $99.99 a month, subscribers of the service receive texts from The CEO. The high price tag has resulted in much debate on social media, and it was referenced by Becky Lynch on an episode of Raw Recap last year when she said Bayley is “probably paying $100 a month to her best friend to text her.”
On the podcast, where Moné was joined by fellow AEW
star Mina Shirakawa, she was was asked about the texting service. The Belt Collector began by stating she actual is the one sending out the texts to subscribers.
“I’m a CEO. Because there are so many people that say, ‘I’m talking to you. I’m messaging you,’ and they are getting scammed,” she said. “I’m like, ‘How about you really do talk to me, you talk to the people that you love, but you have to pay me $99 a month.’ I’m texting you whenever I’m free.”
When asked by Cannon’s co-host Courtney Bee about the content of the messages, Moné emphasized there’s “no sexy stuff.”
“These are just my legit fans. It’s the Moné Krew, the people that love me, that respect me, that want to know about the ins and outs of my day and how I’m feeling, how is it being a CEO. And I teach them,” she said.
After Moné encouraged Cannon—best known as a television presenter and a serial impregnator—to offer a similar service, she added that the $99.99 a month she charges is a “very low” price.
Moné also shared advice she received from her cousin Snoop Dogg, saying he taught her how to work hard until she “become the pimp” in charge of her own career.
