What is the story about?

The San Francisco 49ers’ inactive list is out. As expected, Mike Evans will play through a hip injury.

The offense may lean on Evans even more after the recent injuries to De’Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson. With the top of the depth chart banged up, second-year wideout Jordan Watkins is active for the first time.

Watkins will join Evans, Deebo Samuel, KhaDarel Hodge, and Jacob Cowing as the wideouts for Brock Purdy on Sunday.

Watkins isn’t the only player active for the first time this season. Viliami Fehoko, Kevin Givens, and Sebastian Valdez are all making their debut.

With the 49ers missing most of their defensive line, you’d think Kyle Shanahan would come into this game with a game plan designed to keep the ball away from the Cardinals and limit exposure for the Niners’ defense.
