When Indiana football takes the field against Miami on Monday night, it’ll be joined by a special guest.
Adewale Ogunleye, a member of the Indiana Athletics Hall of Fame as a former defensive end, will join the Hoosiers as an honorary captain for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, the program announced.
Ogunleye is one of the most decorated players in Indiana’s history, posting career program records for sacks and tackles for loss while earning All-Big Ten honors three times between
1996-1999. He joined the program out of Tottenville High School in Staten Island, New York City.
He joined the Miami Dolphins after going undrafted in the 2000 NFL Draft, earning playing time as a rookie before breaking out in his second season with 9.5 sacks. His third go around with the Dolphins was even better, a dominant 15 sack season earned him a First Team All-Pro nod and a Pro Bowl appearance. He spent several seasons with the Chicago Bears after leaving Miami in 2004, finishing out his career with the Houston Texans in 2010.
