Just as it looked like the Lakers were turning the corner from a health standpoint, they were dealt another blow on Thursday. After playing in the first half of the Christmas Day showdown with the Rockets,
Reaves remained in the locker room and was ruled out for the second half with left calf soreness.
Reaves didn’t look hampered by the injury in the opening two periods. He played 15 minutes, going 5-8 for 12 points with a rebound, an assist and a block.
In his return on Monday, Reaves came off the bench. On Thursday, he returned to the starting lineup and pregame, Redick noted that he was not on a minutes restriction, though they would monitor his minutes.
For now, it’s unclear if this was a precautionary measure, a reaggravation of the injury or something else. Whatever it is, it’s not a good thing, obviously, as the Lakers are already in a rough spot without him.
