Newcastle United travels to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday for its first away match of the 2026-27 Premier League season.
Matthias Jaissle’s team enters Matchday 2 after a 2-2 opening-day draw with Liverpool and Wednesday’s 3-2 EFL Cup win over West Bromwich Albion. Newcastle finished 12th last season and has won only four of its last 22 Premier League away matches. However, it has won six of its last eight league meetings with Tottenham, including three of its previous four visits.
Magpies
captain Dan Burn remains unavailable with ankle ligament damage, while co-captain Joelinton, striker Will Osula, and full-back Tino Livramento are also sidelined. On the positive side, £50 million signing Nico Gonzalez could make his first start after being unveiled before the West Brom match.
Tottenham lost 3-0 at Brentford in its Premier League opener before beating Charlton Athletic 5-1 in the EFL Cup. Roberto De Zerbi’s side is without Xavi Simons, Dejan Kulusevski, Wilson Odobert, Mohammed Kudus and James Maddison, while Pape Sarr is a doubt.
New signing Omar Marmoush could make his debut, while former Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali is expected to start in an early revenge game for both sides.
