For the first time in several years, the Falcons’ defense will enter the season as a well-rounded unit filled with talent. There are personnel concerns in certain areas up front. How they replace Kaden Elliss will be a major question going into the fall. Everything else looks encouraging
for Jeff Ulbrich’s unit after the significant strides made in 2025. One of the biggest highlights from last year was how many players performed at a Pro Bowl level.
Jessie Bates elevated his game after a slow start (by his standards) to the year. His play during the second half of the season was a major reason behind the Falcons’ four-game winning streak to finish the season. A.J. Terrell quietly had one of his best years after battling with some inconsistency in 2023 and 2024. In one of the more unexpected breakout seasons, Divine Deablo was outstanding as the centerpiece of the defense. His ability to take on blocks, range in coverage, and terrific instincts consistently stood out.
From 2018 to 2020, Grady Jarrett was the Falcons’ most valuable defensive player by default. Terrell entered the conversation in 2021. Bates earned the title in 2023 and 2024. There is now a discussion to be had with three players. Let us know your choice and thoughts below on who is currently the Falcons’ most valuable defensive player.
