When Bayley was taken out backstage to make way for Becky Lynch’s return (and the debut of those stupid “Becky Hogan” memes) at WrestleMania 41, it brought back memories of WrestleMania 37. Five years earlier, Bayley was left off the ‘Mania card in Tampa, Florida, and literally rolled down the ramp by new WWE Hall of Famers The Bellas in a comedy bit.
Even with a record-setting number of women’s matches possible for this year’s WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas, it’s not clear if Bayley and her frequent
tag partner Lyra Valkyria will make it onto the card. Busted Open’s Dave LaGreca asked the four-time main roster Women’s champ last week if she was nervous about missing another ‘Mania (Bayley also was out for 2022’s WrestleMania 38 due to a serious knee injury).
Bayley replied:
“I don’t know if it’s nervous or more anxious and a little furious. With Lyra not qualifying for the Chamber and myself not qualifying for the Chamber, I feel like there’s still hope and something we can do as a team. That’s something we’ve been pushing since last WrestleMania, and that opportunity was obviously taken from us.
“If it came down to that and we had a chance as a tag team, I think it would be a nice full-circle moment. But I’ve taken a few losses in my day, so I just move on. You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do. It all depends on how you react to things.”
Given everything we know about Bayley and the woman behind the wrestling character, we expect her to react professionally to whatever comes her way. But how will her fans react to another Showcase of the Immortals without WWE’s first-ever women’s Triple Crown and Grand Slam champion?
