After a few weeks of big swings good or bad for the staff, we had the most boringly average results possible. We were a collective 23-25 with no one better than 5-3 and no one worse than 3-5. Cole was
the only person to go above even while Tom and Andrew were below. Christian, Import, the Commentariat, and I were right tin the middle.
The majority of the staff got New Mexico State staying within 40.5 of Tennessee, Georgia beating Texas by more than 5.5, and Missouri beating Mississippi State by more than 7.5 right. The problem was that the minority was right in every other game, but all but one of those games was simply a 4-2 split the wrong way.
The next to last week of the regular season has its usual sillyness. Auburn, Alabama, and Texas A&M are playing FCS foes, so they are not part of the picks. There are 4 SEC-SEC games, 3 SEC-G5 games, and the 1 PAC-12 B1G conference game for the Dealer’s Choice. None of the games were picked unanimously. 4 of them do have 5 staffers on one team. 2 more games have the slim majority. The other 2 are obviously evenly split.
The Rules
- Normally, the picks are for all SEC games with one dealer’s choice where I get to choose another game to make us pick.
- The picks will be made AGAINST THE SPREAD. Too many games are easy to pick heads up. Also, this will serve as a PSA for why you should not get into sports gambling, which is especially important with sports gambling being legal in Tennessee now.
- The lines will be taken from FanDuel, who SB Nation has partnered with this season, some time Monday, so they may not match what is listed at the time this article is published. I may also use a backup for FBS-FCS matchups if the line is available elsewhere when I get the spreads.
