What is the story about?
The Professional Fighter’s League (PFL) has just picked up another top Lightweight prospect.
According to a report from Damon Martin
, Amru Magomedov (9-0) has signed with PFL and will join their 155-pound division. A former UAE Warriors champion, the 26-year-old combatant has finished seven of his fights inside the distance. Most recently, he stopped UFC veteran Alex da Silva inside a round with a body kick. The Russian
standout has trained at Khabib Nurmagomedov’s MMA school in the past, which makes for an interesting dynamic, seeing as the current PFL Lightweight champion is Khabib’s cousin, Usman Nurmagomedov. If anything, Magomedov’s signing seems to lend some credence to the idea that Usman won’t be sticking around with PFL too much longer, particularly since his rivalry with Paul Hughes is now somewhat settled.
Either way, it’s a quality signing for PFL. Perhaps allowing Larissa Pacheco to walk off into free agency helped clear up some budget room for the young prospect?
