Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Orioles fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
For a couple of weeks there, the Orioles went on a little run and you could almost believe that maybe they were rounding into a form closer to the one that we expected from them this season. A series of stupid losses have intervened since then, rendering the O’s not unlike the itsy
bitsy spider of childhood song when rain comes along.
We are now more than 40% of the way into the season and it’s still not totally clear who the real Orioles are. Maybe they’re the team that sketched together that 10 out of 14 stretch. Maybe they’re the doofuses from last night who get a guy thrown out trying to tag and advance to second base while a runner is going home to score a run. Maybe they’re both of those things at once and they’ll keep confusing us for a while longer.
In this week’s survey, my question is simple: Can they get back above .500 before the All-Star break? The break occurs this year after July 12’s game. Assuming no rain postponements or other strange rescheduling between now and then, the Orioles will have played 97 games – 30 more than right now. They need to go at least 18-12 to end up above .500 at that point. What do you think?
