The Steelers shuffled their practice squad Friday morning, signing long snapper Cal Adomitis to the practice squad and releasing linebacker Kana’i Mauga in a corresponding move, the team announced.
The timing is interesting as starting Steelers long snapper Christian Kuntz was listed on the team’s Thursday injury report as limited with a knee injury. Pittsburgh takes on the Detroit
Lions Sunday.
Adomitis has plenty of experience. He went undrafted in 2022, but was picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals, where he started three straight seasons from 2022-24. In 2025, he played in nine games for the Philadelphia Eagles before being waived in December. He’s played 497 career special teams snaps.
Adomitis played college football at Pitt. He won the Patrick Mannelly Award in 2o21, given to the best long snapper in the nation.
Mauga, released to make room for the new long snapper, signed with the Steelers Dec. 3 He never appeared in a game for Pittsburgh.
