What is the story about?
For me, the 2026 Red Sox experience is orders of magnitude worse than 2012 or 2020 when you consider what surrounds it.
- The 2012 disaster came off 14 straight winning seasons and World Series followed the next year.
- The pitiful 2020 display was two years after the 2018 championship and in front of deep playoff run in 2021.
- 2026 will be the fifth straight year and counting of no playoff baseball at Fenway Park and we’re speeding headfirst into a lockout.
If you’re going straight by how long we’ve had to go with little to no meaningful baseball after July each year, I think there’s a pretty solid argument to be made that it hasn’t been this bleak for the Red Sox as a franchise since the early to mid 1960s.
Then again, we also went 86 years between championships before 2004, so from a pure hopelessness standpoint, it’s hard to beat
I how felt after the Aaron Boone home run in 2003. But how does this compare for you?
Talk about this and whatever else you’d like in this thread, and as always, be good to one another.
