It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly 15 years since Roman Reigns made his main roster debut with WWE. He’s been one of the top guys in the company ever since, working on top as a main event star who has headlined more WrestleMania events than anyone before him. At 41-years-old, it’s fair to wonder just how much longer the train will keep rolling down the track.
During his appearance on Nightcap at Fanatics Fest, Reigns was asked about that and gave the following answer:
“I definitely have a few more
years in what I’m doing now. I guess it just depends on what the schedule would look like. And you’ve seen other performers. You know, I just talked to Undertaker a few minutes ago and he was like, ‘I’m working more than I did in the past 10 years.‘ Because he had a very nice schedule, but he put in a lot of work to get to that point. I guess it just depends on what the outside projects look like but I definitely feel comfortable with a couple to three more years of just elite level top performance. I’m still in my prime. I still feel very good. I think it just gets to the point of where do I want to put my attention? I have a lot of children. I want to be able to give back that time to my wife that she sacrificed while I’ve chased this dream. So I think in three years or so, we’ll be able to figure out exactly what I want to do and what are going to be the variables that make me do that. You know, do I want to… how’s my body feeling? Where am I at mentally? Where am I at spiritually? Where’s my family at? Where are my children at? What are they doing? What’s the schedule look like for them? So we’ll see. But I still feel good, y’all.”
Reigns has one hell of a cushy schedule, and I don’t say that to disparage him one bit. He’s worked and earned that schedule, one that allows his body plenty of time to recover in between big money matches. He delivers the goods time and time again. Why even think about leaving now?
In three years, though, the entire landscape is going to look a lot different, considering the age of the top guys on the roster right now. If that is indeed when Reigns decides to do something else with his time, that will create a big opening on the WWE roster.
Thankfully, there’s still plenty of time to get ready for all that.
