Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski is edging closer to staying at Barcelona and a decision could be made as early as next month.
Lewandowski is out of contract in the summer, but Barcelona president Joan Laporta has already said he’d like the veteran to stay another year.
Polish journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk has offered an update on the situation and thinks Lewandowski will end up continuing at Camp Nou.
“This decision will be made shortly. I think April will be the time when his future will be clarified
and formalized. In my opinion, there will be a one-year contract extension,” he said.
“Firstly, because Robert wants it, and we assume that the other side, Joan Laporta, Deco, also wants it. [The Lewandowskis] feel great in Spain. There are important personal, private things, and money probably doesn’t play a major role here. Lewandowski is definitely closer to staying at Barcelona today.
“There’s one more important thing that fans probably forget or don’t prioritize. (…) There’s life, the big thought of family, of children starting school in Barcelona. Now, would he leave for a year with his entire family, change his surroundings, for, I don’t know, two, three, five million euros? Saudi Arabia is a very, very cold topic these days. Moving overseas would involve incredible logistics.”
Fellow reporter Mateusz Swięcicki says Lewandowski has offers from MLS and Serie, adding “Juventus is very excited about Lewandowski.”
However, Święcicki also thinks that the striker will stay put, adding: “If Lewandowski puts all these offers on the table, the one from Barcelona is the absolute best.”
