After more than a decade of playing professional football, Ka’Deem Carey is transitioning to the coaching side.
The former Arizona running back has joined the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts
coaching staff, the team announced Thursday.
Carey played for the team in 2024, helping leading them to a Grey Cup Championship. Carey will serve as the Argonauts running backs coach.
The Tucson native played 11 years of professional football, first with the Chicago Bears (2014-16) and then in the CFL.
Carey was a CFL All-Star in 2022 and won the league’s award for best rusher in 2021 and 2022.
In his one season with the Argonauts, Carey guided the team to the CFL title. In the Grey Cup, he ran for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Carey finished his CFL playing career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Carey played three seasons at Arizona from 2011 to 2013. He was a two-time All-American and the 2013 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year.
Carey was taken in fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Bears. He appeared in 37 games with Chicago.
Carey was in Tucson last night at the Arizona men’s basketball game.
