I realized per a conversation over the weekend: I got ahead of myself with the question about the number of challenges. I didn’t even ask, plainly, about the vibes regarding the 2026 switch to an ABS challenge system in the first place.
So, here, we go, and we’ll do it rajah community prospect list rec style, because while I can probably get a survey in here, I have no idea how to do that right now and it’s 17 minutes before this post needs to go up. I’ll throw four comments in, rec your preference:
Option 1: Full ABS. That is, we have the system, it should just tell the home plate umpire what the correct call is. No need for challenges.
Option 2: Current challenge system. Just as it is, two incorrect challenges per team (and another in extras) per game.
Option 3: Challenge system, but with more than two challenges. To differentiate from Option 1, I’m going to assume that anyone selecting this isn’t thinking like, “500 challenges lol.” Something somewhat more than two, but not egregious.
Option 4: Pre-2026, non-ABS. No ABS at the major league level, no challenges.
Anyway, you probably already have strong feelings about this, so rec away.
